QA Engineer

Festanstellung, Vollzeit · Berlin

Company
Founded in Berlin, autarc is a 35+ person start-up who were part of Y Combinator’s S24 batch in San Francisco. Our team consists of people in Sales, Tech and Operations, with the Engineering & Product department currently 20 people, as we continue to grow throughout the year.
Role description
We are looking for a QA Engineer to join our Core team as we strive to improve best practices. We're at the point now where our customer base is growing and therefore impacting our systems, meaning that ensuring high quality standards is something that remains a priority.

Your role as our first QA Engineer would be to develop and build out a function that supports our Engineers in being able to execute on tests at a higher speed. You will set up the infrastructure necessary for shipping products faster, whilst minimise the amount of code that needs to be written in order to run tests.

In the beginning, you can expect your role to be 80% coding with 20% manual testing. Once you have helped test the whole app, this will shift to become more 50/50. You must therefore be expected to know the basics around coding.

Other responsibilities will include:
  • Being the go-to person with all QA and testing queries from other members of the team
  • Exploring every corner of the app to identify flaws and improvement areas
  • Map out what automating our OS would look like, in setting up a testing infrastructure
  • Contributing to basic levels of our code base
  • Build additional tools to make it easier for other Engineers to run their own tests
Requirements
  • 2+ years of working experience in QA
  • Ability to understand and code in Typescript
  • Experience with Vitest, React Testing Library and Playwright
  • An 'automation' mindset in striving to simplify daily tasks
  • Ability to own things independently whilst supporting multiple teams
  • Fluency in English (German is a plus)
  • Based in Berlin with a willingness to work hybrid (office in Mitte)
What we offer
  • Freedom to choose your own equipment (within a budget)
  • 26 paid vacation days
  • An annual team retreat
  • The choice between Dance or JobRad for mobility
  • The choice between Classpass or Urban Sports Club for fitness
  • Regular team events, lunches and activities
Next steps
If your application is successful, you will participate in the following:
  • Screening call with Louis (Recruiter)
  • Culture fit call with a Senior Engineer
  • Take home coding challenge (approx. 2-4 hours)
  • Final on-site interview with Marius (CTO) and the team
About us
Right now, 25% of CO2 emissions in Europe are caused by heating our buildings. In order for this to be reduced, the transition towards renewable energy needs to be simplified and made more accessible. There are too few installers to meet the growing demand for heat pumps, and a solution to match this trend needs to be brought to the market.
autarc is developing the leading operating system (OS) for heat pump installers, enabling a more digital and efficient installation process for heat pumps.
Through this, autarc is reducing the hurdles to decarbonizing single-family homes and small apartment buildings in Europe, with the goal to help with the planning and designing of 1 million heat pumps by 2030.
