Fullstack Engineer (Financing)
Berlin
Full-time
Permanent employee
Company
Founded in Berlin, autarc is a ~40 person start-up who were part of Y Combinator’s S24 batch in San Francisco. Our team consists of people in Sales, Tech and Operations, with the Engineering & Product department currently ~20 people, as we continue to grow throughout the year.
Role description
You'll be part of a newly formed team aimed at helping with international expansion: Services. On top of their monthly subscription, our customers can book additional services through autarc — such as government subsidy applications (e.g. KfW), energy performance certificates, and more. This area is scaling rapidly and we're hiring a dedicated PM to match.
We're looking at introducing a financing option for our customers that offers them a buy now, pay later option. That means we'll be looking to help our users in maximising their potential to install solar panels and heat pumps given homeowners that aren't in a position to spend all of their savings will be able to distribute their costs.
In addition there will be factoring tasks where our users will pay an amount in which autarc will take a cut later on. This is centred around B2B lending, in which we will need to conduct credit checks and perform underwriting tasks.
Other things you'll do will include:
- Participate in roadmap defining and work alongside a dedicated PM
- Build reliable async flows (webhooks, retries, idempotency, failure handling)
- Build financing pipelines used in real installer workflows
- Ship product-quality UX in React/Tailwind where needed, in close collaboration with Design
- Instrument features with logs/metrics/tracing and improve reliability
- Contribute to testing strategy across Frontend and Backend
This role is Fullstack but Frontend-leaning, with the split being approx. 60/40.
Requirements
- 2-4 years of professional experience in building SaaS
- AI-literate in working with modern tooling
- Strong Fullstack experience with TypeScript, React, Node and ideally NestJS
- Ideally professional experience working Go and readiness to own new Go endpoints/services
- Solid SQL/Postgres skills and familiarity with object storage
- Product mindset: you can turn ambiguous requirements into stable, user-facing features
- Based in Berlin with a willingness to work 3 days hybrid (office in Mitte)
- Fluent in English (German is a plus)
What we offer
- Freedom to choose your own equipment (within a budget)
- 26 paid vacation days
- An annual team retreat
- The choice between Dance or JobRad for mobility
- The choice between Classpass or Urban Sports Club for fitness
- Regular team events, lunches and activities
Next steps
If your application is successful, you will participate in the following:
- Screening call with Louis (Recruiter)
- Culture fit call with a Senior Engineer
- Pair programming/live coding exercise
- Final on-site interview with Marius (CTO) and the team
About us
Right now, 25% of CO2 emissions in Europe are caused by heating our buildings. In order for this to be reduced, the transition towards renewable energy needs to be simplified and made more accessible. There are too few installers to meet the growing demand for heat pumps, and a solution to match this trend needs to be brought to the market.
autarc is developing the leading operating system (OS) for heat pump installers, enabling a more digital and efficient installation process for heat pumps.
Through this, autarc is reducing the hurdles to decarbonizing single-family homes and small apartment buildings in Europe, with the goal to help with the planning and designing of 1 million heat pumps by 2030.
